In 2018, andramatin was invited to present one of his installations works for Venice Architecture Biennale. The theme of this installation is elevation, in which andramatin architects explore the notion of differing heights and forms of Indonesian vernacular architecture. Our design is informed by the concept and further communicates its theme.
Influenced by the looks and concept of the installation, the design is manifested through the material selection and treatment for the book. The texture of the book’s cover resembles rattan, the main material for the installation. The cover is also thinly embossed with graphics that can only be seen when highlighted by light, encapsulating the notion of differing heights and giving it an ephemeral but sublime impression.
